Our next party- Plump does Dots- Sept. 28th

Hey party people! Lighthouse here telling you about our next Catbus adventure in LA. Come catch my opening set at Plump Does Dots! This is a series of parties thrown by the very hip, cool people at Project Alma. This will be my first time spinning with these wonderful people and I'm giddy with excitement. Classy venue, swanky people, and of-the-chart good vibes; it will be a fantastic night. Get all the info below....

Plump Does Dots
*Ripe*Juicy*Electro*House*Breaks*Techno*
Saturday, Sept 25th, 2010
8:30pm - 4:30am

After our usual August break to give you all a chance to get freaky in the desert, we're back with some of our typical shenanigans...and yet another completely absurd theme: polka dots! Oh yeah, we're expecting great outfits for this one... And in our never-ending quest to bring fresh talent to the stage at Plump, we have a whole gamut of new offerings. Four DJs will make their Plump debuts, Miss Genesis from SD, Ron/e from SF, plus Funguy and Lighthouse from right here in SoCal. But, perhaps the most important new addition is the High Arts Cabaret where the gallery used to be. This will be a vital new musical and artistic venue within Plump to showcase the many talented live performers in our community, featuring music, dance and word. Get to the Cabaret early to enjoy happy hour cocktails and tapas made to order.

What we've been up to....

Lighthouse here showing off our new DJ booth. Look for this bad boy at a day party near you! Actually, we're taking this beauty to Burning Man first to see how sturdy she is.

We also picked up some great speakers that attach to the whole unit for mobile DJ action.

It's got a nice lil vanity mirror in the front so the dirty Burners can admire themselves (or we can bounce lasers off of it and zap the people who bug us).

Fancy equalizer bar artwork done by Poptart. Regal wallpaper-style paint job taken from old theatre flats. Recycling at it's best.

I'd like to add a big umbrella attachment to the floor of this so it's built-in shade wherever we go. Plus, I can add some shelves for the monitors, Serato box, and lap top.

The interior is fitted pretty well and I think I'll be able to get my Technics in there if I go battle style. But I don't have to worry about that now because we're taking Poptart's petite CDJ machine.

And my favorite part is that it all folds up into a 45" x 45" X 12" box for relatively easy transport.

We'll see you out and about.

New Mixes from Catbus SF DJ Nobody

Hey all ya party people. Sorry for such a long wait on any updates here. Poptart and myself have been working hard to get our party wagon all hitched up for motherfukkin BURNING MAN. Should you be out there on the dusty playa this year, look for us at the 3:00 plaza with Bad Idea Theater. Come on by. Get your groove on. Have a drink. Watch a horrifyingly awful movie. It's all good.

In the meantime, fresh outta San Francisco, Catbus welcomes our north Cali buddy- DJ Nobody.

Presented for your listening pleasure are two mini-mixes. First up, some electro basslines to get your party started. Tracks coming out of the many vinyl shops that litter the Golden Gate city.

Get your jams on right here with- DJ nobody- Ladies (where ya'll going?) 43 mb, 46:05

Next, enter deep space with some tech grooves that would bring a smile to even Spock's face.

Get it right here- DJ nobody- Nothing 32 mb, 33:37

Hey! He's also got a page right over here- http://www.house-mixes.com/artists/Dj_Nobody/

Give him a lil hello when you get the chance.

We'll see you around once we get back from the ol' dusty playa. It's time for us to head back home.

Peace and love,

Lighthouse

Cherry Spitz Podcast 7/22/09- Comic Con Edition!

HO-LY CRAP kiddos. It's time for the annual pilgrimage to the Nerd-Mecca: the one, the only, COMIC CON!!!!

To kick off this annual trip to the unwashed sea of geekery in San Diego, we at Cherry Spitz give you this podcast. On hand, we have: Lars Hansen, Tim Gale, James Stebick, Erik Wargo (on Skype) and special guest Cousin Miles. This week we pull apart some good panels and some bad panels at this years Con. I know some of you have long drives ahead of you to get to San Diego so pop this baby in your car and start salivating over the inevitable dork-orgy (dorkgy?) that is coming your way. We also throw in some hating on random things and review a little bit more of MTV's immortal sketch comedy show, The State.

Get your podcast on right here- CHERRY SPITZ PODCAST 7/22/09

In other news, Cherry Spitz will be moving over to its own blogspot after Comic Con, but we'll keep you updated here until the move happens. There's nothing on the site right now, but if you want to bookmark it (please do), you can find all your Spitzy goodness over at http://www.cherryspitz.blogspot.com/

Gotta keep this short; I got a convention to invade! Check back here next time for my Comic Con wrap-up with interviews and quite possibly some video as well.

Stay frosty out there.

Podcast-mania

Hey all,

Just a sentimental podcast for the kiddos. In case you're wondering, when I'm not ripping up tracks and fighting the forces of evil, I'm defiling young minds as a teacher. So as an experiment for the actual official Catbus Podcasts, here's part two of "Twenty Feet Away" for your listening enjoyment.

Topics, to name just a few, include- sexy black fathers, the return of the phrase "jive turkey", and couch rape.

Tell us what you think. Either today or tomorrow, we'll begin posting our podcasts featuring LA/OC improv/sketch group Cherry Spitz Fanclub.

Summer's here so we'll be finally kicking this site up a notch and getting the content, mixes, podcasts, pics, and reviews up for your Interweb pleasure. Keep checking back and tell us what you think.

Best,

Lighthouse

Welcome!

Catbus Entertainment is happy to welcome you to our new website. Here at Catbus, we are dedicated to the art and science of the party scene. We seek to preserve the vibe and heart of nocturnal adventuring everywhere.

Drop on by to get information on events and parties where our DJs are spinning. We will also be posting mixes from our resident and guest DJs as well for immediate download into you beat-seeking, groove-finding, pleasure centers.

In line with our old skool sensibilities, we'd like to open a forum about what makes the party scene and begin the rebirth of the "word-of-mouths". We want to promote discussion about the party scene, keep informed about special events, share pictures, retell experiences, and bring back the sense of community. Basically, if you still believe in Peace, Love, Unity, Respect and Responsibility, we want you to climb aboard the Catbus.

Stay tuned and see you out there,

Lighthouse
